Ethiopians in Toronto Celebrated The Victory of Adwa and Black History Month

Ethiopians in Toronto celebrate the Victory of Adwa and Black History Month .

At an event organized by Ethiopian Association in Toronto, the crowd commemorated Ethiopia’s victory over Italian aggressors 122 years ago at the battle of Adwa. The history of Adwa is a symbolic representation of Ethiopia’s leadership in the independence of the rest of Africa.

The president of the Association Alemayehu Asfaw reiterated the victory of Adwa and the sacrifice of Ethiopia’s patriots as a milestone in the history of Ethiopia. He used the occasion to call upon the community to work with him to strengthen the Ethiopian Association in Toronto.
Head of St. Mary Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahdo Church in Toronto, Like Kahnat Misale Engida also paid tribute to the fallen heroes on the battle of Adwa. He then called upon the public to fight hate and division based on ethnicity.
Haddis Nigat Arts Forum , Seb Seb Belu Dance Group and Artist Rasellas Asfaw presented their performances.
