Ethiopia’s Journalism legend Samuel Ferenj passed Away in Toronto.

በኢትዮጵያ ሚዲያ ታርክ ቀዳሚ ሚናየነበራችውጋዜጠኛ ሳሙኤል ከረጅም ግዜ ሕመም በኳላበ81 ኣመት ኣመታቸው ነው ያረፉት
የ ካናዳ ቶሮንቶ ነዋር የነበሩት ሳሙኤል ፈረንጅ በኢትዮጵያ ቴለቪዥን ሰራ ኣስኪያጅነት ዕንዲሁም በቀደምት ዜና ኣንባቢነትያገለገሉ በኢትዮጵያ ጋዜጠኝነት ሙያ ትልቅ ኣስተዋጻኦ ያበረከቱ ነበሩ
Dubed “The pionier of Ethiopian journalism” by many , Samuel Ferenj was one of the first TV news anchors in Ethiopia. He worked as a reporter producer and general manager of Ethiopian national Radio and TV stations.
He lived in Italy and later moved to Canada where he championed advocacy for betterment of refugees .
His son Tibebe Samuel Ferenj was quated by ethiopian observer as saying ” Samuel Ferenj has been in bed for the past 14 years ”
Several Toronto residents who spoke to ethiofidel remember Samuel Ferenj as a passionate journalist and humanitarian.
The late samuel’s memorial service was held in Toronto’s St. Mary Ethiopian Orthodox Cathedral.
