The Renowned Musician Mulate Astatke Recognised At Bikila Awards.

ታዋቂው ኢትዮጵያዊ የ ጃዝ ሙዚቃ ባለሙያ ሙላቱ ኣስታጥቄ የ ቢቂላ ኣዋርድ የ ህይውት ዘመን ሽልማት ወሰዱ፥፥ በቶሮንቶ ካናዳ የሚዘጋጅው ቢቂላ የሽልማት ስነ ስርኣት ሙላቱ ለ ኢትዮጵያ ሙዚቃ ላበረከቱት ታላቅ ኣስተዋጽኦ የህይውት ዘመን ሽልማት ኣበርክቶላቸዋል በቶሮንቶ በተካሄደው የ ቢቂላ ኣዋርድ በ ቅርቡ በ ሞት የተለየውን ጀግና አትሌት ሻምበል ምሩጽ ይፍጠር ጨምሮ ሌሎችም ሽልማቶቻቸውን ተቀብለዋል

The well known figure in the Ethiopian music industry , best known as the “father of Ethiopian Jazz” Mulatu Astatke is in town .

 

Last night , he received a life time achievement award from Bikila Awards . The person who put Ethiopia on the map through his world renowned jazz music has been the highlight of the Bikila Awards held in downtown Toronto . Mulatu studied music in England where he was sent to study engineering.

The 4th annual Bikila Award presented two  prominent keynote speakers Founder and Executive Chairman of US Doctors for Africa (USDFA) & US Congress runner, State of California, Mr. Ted Alemayehu and Professor Suzanne Conklin Akbari, Director of Center for Medieval Studies at University of Toronto. Ted Alemayehu is the first Ethiopian American to run for Congress in US.

The Daniel Spectrum hall was filled with energy as guests witnessed a line up of award recipients for their contribution to the society. 

The late Ethiopian Olympic Hero Miruts Yifter was recognised for his professional excellence. His  family received the award for the world class athlete Miruts . 

Dr .Edemariam Tsega, Dr.Frances Lester, Dr Enawgaw Mehari , Dr. Fitsum Tariku were recognized for their professional excellence in Health and philanthropy. 

Academic excellence awards were handed over at the occasion  while The Barnes /woldemicheal/ Ethio-Jazz Quartet entertained the crowd.
