Ethiopian movie “Lamb” makes it to Cannes film festival

 

Lamb is a movie by Ethiopian movie maker Yared Zelke narrating a story of a young boy’s relationship with his Lamb .

The first Ethiopian movie to be screened at Cannes international film festival, Lamb is believed to attract attention from the organizers after it secured a spot in the official selection.

The Director of the film Yared  told BBC that Lamb is a movie of a boy’s attachment to a lamb he raised and the film’s selection by Cannes is an extraordinary success he added.

The movie which is already distributed in some Europen countries is set to be an inspiration for other African film makers . For the 36 year old director Yared Zeleke, the film Lamb, will help improve Ethiopia’s image

“ This film will show Ethiopia from an Ethiopian perspective and show the land for what it is , which is mountainous ,green and quiet rich rather than destitute” Zeleke says

The movie casts Rediet Amare, Wollela Assefa, Kidist Siyum and Surafel Teka
