A night to recognize excellence in Youth and youth serving organizations .
At the Regent Park’s Daniel Spectrum,the 9th Annual Aroni Awards, recognized scores of individuals with positive contribution to society.
Among those recognized was the late Nahom Berhane who was fatally stabbed in September around Toronto’s Danforth Avenue .
In an emotional speech after accepting Nahom’s Aroni Inspiring award , his family said Nahom was a hard working and caring person that inspired many young people.

Com , Nahom’s sister, Arsema Berhane expressed her hopes that Nahom’s legacy will continue with the generation to come . ” As a strong city leader, Nahom dedicated his life to supporting young people and to advocating for social justice. his legacy continues to live” she says
For the founder and manager of Aroni awards mesfun Haile, his late brother Aron and Nahom’s dreams will continue. He noted that they decided to honour Nahom to shade light on what most people did not know about Nahom .
At an event attended by the new police chief Mark Saunders and MPP Mitzy Hunter, several young people and youth serving agencies received awards and bursaries .
Many of the speakers echoed what the owner of Sterling Dentals, Dr. Anthony Sterling said in his opening speech ” let us do our part to shape the future of our youth and children”.
